DETAILS AND CARE

Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree (Standard Form) in 45-Gallon Pot available in Jupiter, FL

Vibrant, fast-growing, and flat-out stunning—the Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree (Eucalyptus deglupta) is one of nature’s masterpieces. With its trademark multi-colored bark that peels in strips to reveal streaks of green, orange, red, purple, and blue, this tree is as much sculpture as it is shade. Native to the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, it thrives in South Florida’s warmth and rainfall, bringing both structure and spectacle to tropical gardens.

This 45-gallon standard form tree features a single trunk and strong vertical structure, perfect for lining driveways, anchoring large yards, or making a bold botanical statement.

Care & Growing Info (Optimized for South Florida):

  • Sunlight: Full sun is essential—needs 6–8+ hours daily for rapid growth and best bark coloration.

  • Watering: Moderate to high. Keep soil consistently moist, especially while young. Loves frequent watering during dry spells.

  • Soil: Prefers rich, well-drained, slightly acidic soils. Will adapt to sandy soil with added organic matter.

  • Fertilizer: Feed 2–3 times annually with a balanced fertilizer to support strong vertical growth and healthy foliage.

  • Growth Habit: Upright, tall canopy tree with exfoliating bark. In a 45-gallon pot, stands around 8–10 feet. Can reach 60–100 feet or more at maturity if unpruned.

  • Temperature: USDA Zones 10–11. Grows best in humid, frost-free areas. Protect young trees from rare cold snaps.

  • Maintenance: Moderate. Prune only to shape or manage height. Keep lower trunk exposed to show off that rainbow bark.

Bark Notes:
The rainbow effect is created as older bark peels away, revealing bright green underneath that ages into a spectrum of pastel colors. Each tree’s pattern is unique, making it a living art piece.

Medicinal & Nutritional Benefits:
Not grown for consumption. While other eucalyptus species are used medicinally, Eucalyptus deglupta is mainly ornamental. Its leaves do not contain the same high levels of eucalyptol used in oils or teas. It is non-edible and should not be ingested.
