DETAILS AND CARE

Maha Mango Tree in 7-Gallon Pot Available in Jupiter, FL

Elegant, elongated, and exceptionally delicious, the Maha Mango (Mangifera indica 'Maha Chanok') is a Thai variety renowned for its buttery, fiberless flesh and complex floral-sweet flavor. Revered across Southeast Asia and increasingly sought after in Florida, this mango offers a smooth eating experience with a fragrance as captivating as its taste.

A reliable producer with a compact, manageable growth habit, Maha is ideal for backyard growers and mango enthusiasts alike. In a 7-gallon pot, this young tree is primed to establish quickly and begin its journey toward tropical abundance.

Care & Growing Info (Optimized for South Florida):

Sunlight: Full sun—at least 6 to 8 hours daily. A sunny location ensures strong flowering, dense canopy growth, and excellent fruit color.

Watering: Moderate. Water deeply and infrequently. Allow topsoil to dry slightly before watering again. Avoid overwatering, especially in pots.

Soil: Well-draining sandy or loamy soil. Enrich with compost or aged organic matter. Avoid waterlogged or heavy clay soils.

Fertilizer: Apply mango-specific fertilizer 3–4 times per year. During bloom and fruiting, supplement with potassium and micronutrients like magnesium and sulfur.

Growth Habit: Compact, upright, and elegant. Typically reaches 12–20 feet in-ground but can be maintained smaller with pruning. Excellent canopy for small gardens. 7-gallon trees are generally 3–4 feet tall.

Temperature: USDA Zones 10–11. Thrives in South Florida’s subtropical climate. Protect young trees from rare cold snaps below 35°F.

Maintenance: Low to moderate. Prune lightly after harvest to maintain airflow and structure. Apply copper fungicide preventively during rainy periods to avoid fungal issues.

Harvest & Seasonality:

Planting Time: Best planted in spring or fall, though year-round planting is possible with consistent irrigation and mulching.

Harvest Time: June through July in South Florida. A reliable mid-season variety with exceptional fruit-holding quality.

How to Harvest: Pick when the shoulder of the fruit begins to rise and color shifts slightly. Let ripen at room temperature indoors for best flavor.

Seasonal Notes: One of the most consistent and clean-growing mangoes in Florida. Holds well on the tree and resists splitting.

Maha mangoes are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, fiber, and polyphenols—supporting immune health, digestion, eye health, and skin vitality. Their smooth, fiber-free texture makes them gentle on the stomach and perfect for smoothies, fresh eating, or elegant desserts.
