DETAILS AND CARE

Jatropha Plant (Standard Form) in 7-Gallon Pot available in Jupiter, FL

Cheerful, compact, and reliably blooming—the Jatropha Plant (Jatropha integerrima) in standard (tree-form) is a tropical crowd-pleaser. With bright coral-red flowers that bloom nearly year-round and a tidy single trunk, it brings both color and structure to small gardens, patios, or pollinator spaces. Originally from the Caribbean and Central America, this plant thrives in South Florida’s sunshine and heat, offering a butterfly magnet with very little maintenance.

This 7-gallon standard form Jatropha is a perfect size for tight spaces, container gardens, or sunny borders where big personality is needed without the bulk.

Care & Growing Info (Optimized for South Florida):

  • Sunlight: Full sun to part shade—flowers best with 6+ hours of sun daily.

  • Watering: Low to moderate. Drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering during dry spells.

  • Soil: Well-drained sandy or loamy soil is ideal. Avoid overwatering or soggy soil.

  • Fertilizer: Light feeding 2–3 times per year with a balanced bloom-boosting fertilizer.

  • Growth Habit: Upright, small-tree form with a rounded canopy. In a 7-gallon pot, typically 3–4 feet tall. Can grow up to 8–10 feet tall in the ground.

  • Temperature: USDA Zones 10–11. Frost-tender—protect from cold snaps. Enjoys heat and humidity.

  • Maintenance: Very low. Prune lightly to shape and remove old flower stalks. Keep compact with annual trimming if desired.
