DETAILS AND CARE

Coffee Plant in 7-Gallon Pot available in Jupiter, FL.

Lush, aromatic, and deeply rewarding—the Coffee Plant (Coffea arabica) in a 7-gallon pot brings the charm of the tropics and the allure of your morning brew to life. With glossy green leaves, fragrant white blossoms, and bright red cherries that encase real coffee beans, this plant is both ornamental and edible—making it a star in any South Florida patio garden, food forest, or shaded courtyard.

In this 7-gallon size, your coffee plant is well-established and poised to begin fruiting with proper care and light, giving you the chance to grow your own coffee at home.

Care & Growing Info (Optimized for South Florida):

  • Sunlight: Prefers bright indirect light or partial shade. Ideal for east-facing exposures or dappled light under taller trees. Avoid intense, direct midday sun which can scorch the leaves.

  • Watering: Likes consistent moisture. Keep the soil evenly moist (but not soggy), especially during active growth seasons. Mulch helps maintain soil humidity in warm weather.

  • Soil: Requires well-drained, rich, slightly acidic soil. A mix of compost, peat moss, and sand works well. Avoid alkaline or salty soils.

  • Fertilizer: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, acid-loving fertilizer (similar to citrus or azalea formulas). Hold back in cooler months.

  • Growth Habit: Compact and upright with dense, glossy foliage and white jasmine-like flowers. In a 7-gallon pot, the plant typically reaches 3–5 feet tall, and with time and care, will begin producing fruit.

  • Temperature: Ideal for USDA Zones 10–11. Well-suited for South Florida’s warm, humid climate. Protect from temperatures below 45°F. Can be overwintered indoors in cooler regions.

  • Maintenance: Low. Prune to shape or encourage airflow. Remove yellowing leaves and harvest ripe red cherries to process beans for roasting.

Fruit Notes: Cherries ripen after flowering, turning from green to deep red. Each cherry contains two beans. Harvest, dry, and roast for your own garden-to-cup coffee experience.
