DETAILS AND CARE

Fioretto Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) – 4–5 Inch Pot
Available in Jupiter, FL. at Urban Abundance.

Say hello to the elegant side of cauliflower—Fioretto is a Japanese-bred variety that grows tender, long-stemmed white florets with a delicate, slightly sweet flavor. Unlike traditional cauliflower, Fioretto forms loose, branching heads that are perfect for roasting, grilling, or tossing into a stir-fry. As part of the Brassicaceae family, Fioretto is a cool-season annual vegetable that loves South Florida’s dry, sunny winter.

Sold in a 4–5 inch pot, these specialty cauliflower plants are easy to grow in raised beds or containers, offering a gourmet harvest just weeks after planting.

Sunlight Needs: Full sun—6–8 hours daily helps develop firm stems and full flavor.
Watering Needs: Moderate. Keep soil consistently moist, especially during head formation.
Soil Requirements: Well-drained, fertile soil rich in compost. Optimal pH is 6.0–6.8.
Growth Habit: Upright with branching florets and long, tender stems. Grows 18–24 inches tall.
Harvest Timing: Harvest 40–60 days after transplant. Pick when stems are long and florets are creamy-white and tender.
Cold Tolerance: Excellent. Performs beautifully in South Florida from October through March.
Special Features:

  • Unique open-headed cauliflower with sweet, nutty flavor

  • Ideal for gourmet cooking and high-end presentation

  • Fast-growing and harvestable over multiple cuttings

  • More heat-tolerant than standard cauliflower varieties

South Florida Notes: Fioretto’s open growth and branching habit make it perfect for our mild winters. Protect from strong wind with light staking if needed. Pests are minimal in cooler months, but floating row cover can help with early aphid pressure.

Next steps after purchase:

  • Transplant into full sun in fertile, well-drained soil

  • Space 12–18 inches apart for airflow

  • Water evenly and mulch to retain moisture

  • Fertilize every 3–4 weeks with a vegetable-friendly blend

  • Harvest when florets are tender and creamy white—don’t wait for them to form a dense head

This is a cool-season annual—it grows and produces in one season and should be replanted each year for new harvests.
