DETAILS AND CARE

Bromeliad Purple in 7-Gallon Pot available in Jupiter, FL.

Add a splash of bold, tropical color to your landscape with the Bromeliad Purple in a 7-gallon pot. This striking bromeliad variety features rich, deep purple foliage that radiates from a central rosette—creating a stunning contrast against green garden backdrops. It's a vibrant choice for modern landscapes, tropical borders, and statement containers.

Whether used as a focal point or grouped for maximum impact, this purple bromeliad brings dramatic texture, low maintenance, and year-round color to South Florida gardens.

Care & Growing Info (Perfect for South Florida):

  • Sunlight: Performs best in partial shade to bright indirect light. In South Florida, a few hours of morning sun is ideal—too much intense afternoon sun may fade the purple tones or cause leaf scorch.

  • Watering: Fill the plant’s central “cup” with water and keep it fresh by flushing every couple of weeks. Water the surrounding soil lightly to support the roots, especially in dry spells. It’s drought-tolerant once established.

  • Soil: Loves a well-draining, chunky mix—orchid bark, pine fines, and coarse sand are ideal. For South Florida’s sandy soils, amend with organic matter to support moisture retention without causing soggy roots.

  • Fertilizer: Use a low-nitrogen or bromeliad-specific fertilizer monthly during the growing season. Spray it as a foliar mist or apply lightly to the soil—not directly into the central tank.

  • Growth Habit: Grows in a symmetrical, upright rosette. In a 7-gallon pot, it typically reaches 18–30 inches tall and wide, depending on variety and light. Foliage becomes more intensely purple with age and good lighting.

  • Temperature: Thrives in USDA Zones 9–11. Well adapted to South Florida’s tropical conditions—loves heat and humidity, and can handle brief cold spells down to about 35°F with protection.

  • Maintenance: Very low. Remove spent leaves and allow “pups” (baby bromeliads) to grow at the base. These can be separated and replanted once mature.
